Kilometro Rosso

Innovation District

Kilometro Rosso is one of the main European innovation districts, a meeting place between research and business that operates as a technology transfer agent. Today the campus is home to around 80 Resident Partners – companies, laboratories and research centers – for a total of over 2,500 employees and researchers.

Born and developed in 2009 on a private initiative, Kilometro Rosso with its Resident Partners represents a point of reference in the international panorama of research and technology transfer: 31 laboratories, 49 R&D projects financed for over 172 million euros, 750 registered patents, 70,000 official delegates from all over the world, 200 events a year to promote technological innovation with over 18,000 participants and more than 500,000 registered admissions a year.

To encourage Open Innovation and contamination, Kilometro Rosso aggregates multi-sector initiatives, divided into the following technological clusters: Energy and sustainability; Specialized training; ICT; Composite materials; Mechanics and mechatronics; Engineering, prototyping and design; life sciences; Innovation services.


Already an innovative business incubator recognized by the Lombardy Region, Kilometro Rosso is a partner of the main national and international networks that support innovative startups and SMEs, such as: International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP), InnovUp – Italian Innovation & Startup Ecosystem, MADE – Competence Center Industry 4.0, Digital Innovation Hub Lombardia Bergamo, AFIL – Associazione Fabbrica Intelligente Lombardia, Cysero VC, ENI Joule, EUREKA! Venture SGR and Open Italy.
